Do You Hear the Voice of God?

The title of this post may surprise some of you! The fact is, we must learn to hear God’s voice in today’s chaotic times.

When people say, “I heard God’s voice,” what they really mean is that they sense something that God wants to let them know. Usually, it is not audible to our physical ears but is a powerful sense deep down in our hearts. Some call it a “still, small voice.” Some call it a “revelation.” Some refer to it as a “strong feeling in the spirit.” It does not matter what you call it if you are hearing it and hearing it right.

It’s a natural question when someone asks,” How do I know I am hearing it right?” Here are two important indicators. First, what you sense as God’s voice will align well with the Scriptures. In other words, if it is God who is speaking to you, his voice will not contradict his written Word, the Bible. Second, what you sense as God’s voice will benefit you and others around you. In other words, it will not be destructive but constructive in design and content.

We need to sense God’s direction today more than ever before. Jesus declared, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me…” (John 10:27,28 NLT).

We are in a place now where we are inundated with information, ideas, options, and interests. If we need to choose what is right and best, we need to hear God’s voice that will bring us His wisdom. It is this that could make you stand tall and stand out as a leader in a super-crowded domain, whatever domain that be.

Here is a good Scripture to ponder: “…Bread alone will not satisfy, but true life is found in every word, which constantly goes forth from God’s mouth” (Matthew 4:4 TPT).
